Artist History |
Raised in the small town of Redditch just South of Birmingham, Jenny had a strong interest in Fine Art from an early age using the sights around her as inspiration. Early on at college, most of her projects would be based around nature. Even now after spending nearly a decade studying Art, her experiments with subject, form, style and choice of medium, all lead back time and time again to nature. Among the subjects Jenny has ventured into are sublime landscapes, sound waves and synesthesia, luminosity, Zen and Buddhism, the human form and portraiture. Every time a subject is revisited, something jenny has learned from the last will be developed with the new whether it be technique, style or composition. |

In the final year of her Fine Art Degree in 2009 Jenny had made extensive research into the Romantic Sublime and merged it with the philosophies of Zen Buddhism. Her fascination with the theory of the sublime and being in awe of the greatness of nature led Jenny to create work on an extremely large scale based on the American landscape (the largest being 3 by 3 metres). This was to capture the vastness in the subject, whilst the paint blended together would reflect the Buddhist principle that all life flows together contingently, constantly moving, evolving and consequently improving itself. |
The technique Jenny has developed uses oil paint diluted with linseed oil to a creamy consistency. This enables her to literally push the paint around the canvas and blend it together seamlessly and fluidly.
Currently Jenny is working full time from her own studio based in The Old Needle Works, a fresh new craft centre based in Redditch town centre. Her she is producing, commissioning and selling her own art work including pet portraits and abstract landscapes.
